This past Friday, RCSE met at Java Burrito for lunch!  After a delicious meal of chicken, steak or veggie burrito, President Andrew Cosey reminded everyone of the upcoming October Social which will be held on Thursday, October 26th, at Tubby's Tank House in Thunderbolt.  Once all Rotary business items were discussed, our group walked one block over to the entrance of the Davenport House Museum for a talk about Historic Savannah Foundation and their preservation efforts.

Once inside, the leadership team of HSF introduced themselves by giving us their backgrounds and how they came to work for HSF and the Davenport House Museum.  The room where we were located had a timeline of the history of preservation in Savannah.  The HSF offices used to be on the ground floor of the Isaiah Davenport House.  Recently, they moved the offices, welcome center and gift shop across the lane after they restored the old pharmacy on Broughton Street.  This move allowed HSF to open up the ground floor of the Davenport House where a new exhibit focusing on the enslaved people of the house will open on November 9th.  The combined knowledge of the HSF staff and members of RCSE made for a very interactive and educational presentation.  To learn more about the Davenport House Museum, please visit https://davenporthousemuseum.org/
