This past Friday, RCSE had the privilege of hearing from Memorial Health CEO Brad Talbert.  Before Brad began his presentation, President Andrew Cosey reminded all members of the Ghost Pirates fundraiser that RCSE will be hosting on Thursday, January 25th.  Tickets are still available and are $25 each.  Once all Rotary business items were discussed, Kim Campbell introduced Brad.

Brad began his presentation by giving us some information about Memorial Health: Level 1 Trauma center, only children's hospital in Savannah with 92 NICU beds, 3rd largest hospital in Georgia, treated 280,000 patients last year, 400 million contributed to the local economy.  Memorial Health is an investor owned hospital which is owned by HCA.  HCA has 180 hospitals nationwide.  Memorial has many accreditations and recently received an award for being the in top 10% in the country in patient safety.

Brad discussed some of the core service lines that Memorial Health has such as heart, surgical services (7500 services were performed in 2022), and ER.  He then gave us more information about the Children's Hospital of Savannah.  For Halloween, they had a reverse trick or treat which was so enjoyed by everyone that one child said they wanted to come back next year!  He concluded his talk by discussing nursing and the things Memorial is doing to not only attract but keep nurses.  Some of those initiatives are investing in education, having their own nursing school, competitive pay, and a good culture.
