What a meeting RCSE had this past Friday!  We had a member minute from Conni Reynolds, Cale Hall went from Red Badge to Blue Badge, and Toni Marwitz was honored not once but twice for her contributions to the GRSP Foundation!  It was a fun and exciting time to be at The Pirates House.  After all honors and presentations were given to our members, RCSE was fortunate to hear from Maria de Vivero who is a GRSP student from Columbia.

Maria began her presentation by telling us a little bit about herself and her life in Columbia.  She also highlighted various cultural and geographical areas of the country.  Maria grew up in a Rotarian household as both of her parents are Rotary members.  She attended many Rotary events as a child and said that she learned that Rotary brings all different types of people together.  Even though Maria has only been studying at Georgia Southern Armstrong campus for a short time, she has enjoyed every minute of it.  Maria is extremely thankful to her sponsoring clubs, her host family, and Toni Marwitz for making her feel so welcomed here in Savannah and for providing her with social, cultural, and academic enrichments.

After Maria spoke, Bill Von Alt informed the club that RCSE has an opportunity to sponsor a GRSP student for next year (2024-2025) with the Richmond Hill and Metro Rotary clubs.  The financial commitment for RCSE would be around $4,000.  He asked members to help defray the cost by donating to our club's GRSP fund.  If you are so inclined to make a donation, you may write the check to RCSE and write in the memo line GRSP.  Please reach out to Bill, Andrew or Kerri if you have any questions about the sponsorship.
