This past Friday, RCSE decided to take our meeting on the road!  Instead of our traditional fried chicken meal at The Pirates House, members and guests met for a picnic lunch followed by a tour of Re:Purpose Savannah.  Before the tour began, President Andrew Cosey reminded all of the RCSE Holiday party on Thursday, December 14th.  Katheryne Fields, Executive Director of GRSP, was also in attendance.  She gave a brief recap of GRSP and thanked our club for assisting during the most recent GRSP weekend in Savannah.  Once all Rotary business items were discussed, Kim Campbell introduced our speakers, Kate and Jordyn, and off we went on a tour!

Re:Purpose is a women-led non-profit organization that deconstructs and salvages historic materials, to give them a second life and to keep them out of landfills.  Kate gave us an overview of the impressive operations of this unique non-profit. Only five years old, Re:Purpose Savannah has grown significantly in a short period and provides a wide array of products and services to our community. Jordyn gave us a comprehensive tour through the various spaces and barns, highlighting some of the materials unique to our area and explaining in detail the process of deconstruction, sorting items, and preparing them for becoming part of another home or project. It is quite an impressive operation that these remarkable women have built and a wonderful resource for our community!  To see photos of our time at Re:Purpose, please visit the RCSE Facebook page.  https://www.facebook.com/RotaryClubofSavannahEast?ref=embed_page
