Details for the November 19th Meeting

We will be meeting at The Pirates House this Friday in our normal meeting room - Captain Flints Hall.  The side door to the room will be unlocked if you would prefer to use that entrance.

November is Rotary Foundation month and all of our speakers this month will talk about how Rotary Foundation funds are making an impact not only locally but throughout the world.  This Friday, Leslie Mattingly will speak to our club.  A strong Rotarian of several decades, Leslie worked hard to mobilize an "army" of 250 skilled, experienced PLN staff members, together with Rotary to develop a large and successful sustainable agriculture program.  Funded by a Rotary Global Grant, with support thus far exceeding $400,000, they're supporting an island-wide program of economic development through sustainable agro-ecology.  The program trains farmers and creates an entire economy chain for fresh produce and food across Puerto Rico. The project is now in Phase 2 and Leslie will be giving us a detailed overview.

As a reminder, if you have not turned in your Thanksgiving Cards, please do so immediately!  The cards will be delivered to Senior Citizens Inc after the meeting.

RCSE looks forward to seeing all members and guests on Friday!
NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
November 12, 2021 - Meeting Recap
It was nice to see so many faces at the meeting this past Friday.  Laura Lane asked all members to mark December 8th on their calendar for the annual RCSE Holiday Party.  More information about the event will be forthcoming!  After all Rotary items were discussed, Ed Engel introduced our speaker for the day, PDG Hamsa Thota who spoke about how Rotary Foundation funds are making an impact both locally and around the world.

There are over 1 million Rotarians throughout the world all coming together with money and resources to make an impact in communities.  The Foundation enables us to transform our gifts into service projects changing lives both close to home and abroad.  Since RCSE was formed, the club has given over $241,000 to the Rotary Foundation.  District 6920 has many ongoing initiatives that are made possible due to grants from Rotary Foundation.  Some of those projects are scholarships, End Polio Now, clean water projects, Saving Lives with Medicine, helping schools in India and farmers in Guatemala.

RCSE can help by increasing our membership which in turn will increase the amount of money donated to Rotary Foundation.  We can also continue to help by becoming involved in a Global Grant project.
