Details for the September 19th Meeting

We will be meeting at The Pirates House this Friday in our normal meeting room - Captain Flints Hall.  You need to enter through the FRONT ENTRANCE as the side door is no longer unlocked.

Our speaker for the meeting this week is Dr. Kathryn Sophia Belle who will be presenting on building a beloved community.  Dr. Belle is the founder and owner of La Belle Vie Academy (LBVA). She will discuss the importance of building community with meaningful connection and communication - as well as some simple (though not always easy) steps to do so.

RCSE looks forward to seeing all members and guests on Friday!
RCSE September Social - Friday, September 19th at Forsyth Park!

If you'd like to join us for this free event, bring a chair to sit, snacks to enjoy (and share if you're so inclined), and the beverage of your choice. No RSVP is required, and families and friends are more than welcome to come.

We will be set up toward the rear of the park near the tennis courts on the Drayton side beginning around 5:00PM.
NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Guest Meal Policy
The RCSE Board is excited to share that we're seeing our highest regular meeting attendance since 2020! We are thrilled to see so many of you each week at the Pirate's House; it's a great sign our club is thriving. Because the number of meals we are purchasing has increased, we need to revive our guest meal policy, which we have not observed since before 2020.

The RCSE Guest Meal policy is: members pay $10 for each guest they bring, which covers approximately half the cost of each meal. Each member can choose whether they will bring payment in the form of cash or a check to the meeting or be billed for the total number of guest meals at the end of each quarter with their regular dues.

We will start formally observing this policy with the start of the quarter in October. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Kim or any other member of the RCSE Board.
September 12, 2025 - Meeting Recap
This past Friday, RCSE met at SEDA for a very engaging presentation from our GRSP student, Julio Morales.  Before Julio spoke, President Kim Campbell reminded everyone of the upcoming September Social in Forsyth Park at Savannah Jazz Festival on September 19th.  Once all Rotary business items were discussed and Happy dollars collected, Julio talked about GRSP and his country of Mexico.

Julio is from Guadalajara, Mexico which is the second largest city in Mexico with 7 million residents.  He told us some fun facts about Mexico such as chocolate was first cultivated there, they have many ecosystems, and tequila as well as mariachi originated from the county.  Mariachi is a traditional Mexican style music that began in the 18th century.  Julio was dressed in a mariachi costume and serenaded us with a song titled Cien Anos!  He then showed us some photos of his family and talked about the family unit within Mexican culture.  He wants to go into politics one day and his goal is to be President of Mexico!  He enjoys hiking, basketball, and debating.

Julio is being sponsored by four area clubs: Savannah East, Savannah South, Metro, and Richmond Hill.  As a student at Georgia Southern, he is studying political science.  Julio explained that GRSP is a program to promote peace and understanding through interactions and he is so happy to be one of the 38 students selected for this experience.  Bill Von Alt then talked about ways we can support Julio during his year here in Savannah.  Julio will need rides to events throughout the state and places to stay when school is not in session.  If you are able to help, please contact Bill or Kerri.  Thank you, Julio, for sharing all about yourself to RCSE!
